ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL (EDC)

An Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) is an initiative typically found in academic institutions designed to promote entrepreneurial activities and foster an entrepreneurial mindset among students, aspiring entrepreneurs, and others interested in the startup ecosystem.

Vision

To provide a platform for students to explore, ideate, and develop entrepreneurial skills, guiding them through the startup journey while offering mentorship, resources, and support to help them translate their innovative ideas into successful enterprises.

Mission

1.       To nurture innovativeness and fostering entrepreneurial culture among students.

2.       To create, develop and impart the ability to devise solutions for the problems
of society and industry.

3.       To work with industry in pursuit of knowledge and research, leading to the development of cutting edge and commercially-viable technologies.

Objectives

  1. Encouraging Innovation: The cell helps in sparking innovation by providing resources, mentorship, and a platform for ideas to be nurtured into viable business models.
  2. Skill Development: It organizes workshops, seminars, and training sessions aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills, such as business planning, financial management, marketing, and leadership.
  3. Mentorship and Guidance: The EDC offers mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs, industry experts, and faculty, providing valuable insights into starting and scaling a business.
  4. Networking Opportunities: It connects students and aspiring entrepreneurs with potential investors, business leaders, and fellow innovators to build a network that supports growth.
  5. Facilitation of Startups: The cell assists in the incubation and development of startups by offering resources like office space, legal assistance, and seed funding, among others.

Overall, an Entrepreneurship Development Cell fosters an entrepreneurial ecosystem within an institution or community, encouraging individuals to take risks, innovate, and contribute to economic development.

EVENT REPORT - 2024-25

INNOVATION IN RENEWABLE ENERGY FOR A SUSTAINABLE WORLD

The Entrepreneurship development cell and Master Mind of Shree Sathyam college of Engineering and Technology jointly organized a seminar on “Innovation in Renewable Energy for a Sustainable World ”on 07thOctober 2024. The main objective of this programme is to motivate and guide young engineering graduates towards the Business Intelligence to the fundamental developments of India.

After the inauguration function, the session was handled by Dr.R.Vinoth, Professor, Department of mechanical engineering, Excel Engineering College, Namakkal. He spoke about the He spoke about various and emerging trends on Renewable energy features in an innovative and efficient way. 

The session was proceeded by difference between Innovation and inventions, renewable energy and its types, Role of Electrical vehicle in interdisciplinary departments, Entrepreneurship and start-up, preventing innovation using Intellectual Properties Rights (IPR), Ideathon and Hackathon, Emerging Areas in Engineering etc.

STARTUP-AN EMERGING OPPORTUNITY

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell & Master Mind organized a one day Seminar on “Startup-An Emerging Opportunity”  on 23rd Oct 2024 in Seminar Hall. The chief guest Dr. Sridhar Harikrishnamoorthy, Chairman of Orcci Eco Products-Chennai shared his journey and expertise in launching and scaling successful startups. His session covered various aspects of the startup ecosystem, including identifying business opportunities, overcoming challenges, securing funding, and understanding the legal and regulatory requirements for startups. This seminar was a valuable learning opportunity for all students, fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and a deeper understanding of the startup ecosystem.

EVENT REPORT - 2023-24

INDUSTRIAL WASTE TO CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL A NEW BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

Entrepreneurship development cell organized a workshop with the Department of Mechanical & Civil Engineering titled “Industrial Waste to Construction Material a New Business Opportunity” (Entrepreneurship) on 19th August 2023 at the Seminar Hall. The chief guest Mr. P.Angamuthu, M.D at PMP Construction, who shared his expertise in sustainable construction practices and waste management. He provided an in-depth overview of the methods and technologies used to convert industrial waste into usable materials such as bricks, tiles, and aggregates for construction, also discussed the environmental benefits of repurposing industrial waste, reducing the strain on natural resources and minimizing landfill waste. Totally 62 students in various departments participate in this program.

TALK ON ENTREPRENEUR AT CAMPUS

Entrepreneurship development cell organized a one day Seminar with Department of Science and Humanities “Talk on Entrepreneur at Campus”  on 07th Oct 2023 in Seminar Hall. The chief guest Mr.V.Palanivel shared his extensive experience in entrepreneurship and highlighted the potential for students to turn innovative ideas into successful ventures. He discussed the importance of identifying market gaps, building a business plan, and managing risks while starting a business, also emphasized the role of technical expertise in creating entrepreneurial opportunities, particularly in industries related to engineering and technology. Totally 198 students in various departments participate in this program.

MARKETING

Entrepreneurship Development Cell & Institution’s Innovation Council organized a one day Seminar on “Marketing” on 23rd March 2024 in Seminar Hall. The chief guest Mr.A.Murugesan, M.D at Vela Smeltars Pvt Ltd, Namakkal an expert in marketing and business strategies, delivered an engaging and insightful session, discussed the various aspects of marketing, including digital marketing, branding, consumer behavior, and market research. He highlighted the importance of effective marketing strategies for businesses, especially in the era of rapid technological advancements and digital transformation. He also shared real-world case studies and examples of successful marketing campaigns, providing students with practical knowledge that they could apply in their own professional careers.
