Dr. P. KANNAN, B.E., M.E., Ph.D., has been the Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Shree Sathyam College of Engineering and Technology since February 2024. He received his B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Manonmaniam Sundarnar University, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, India, in 2000. He did his M.E. degree at Alagappa Chettiyar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi, in the specialization of Optical Communication under Anna University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, in 2007. He completed his doctoral degree in Information and Communication Engineering, specializing in VLSI Signal Processing, from Anna University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, in 2015.
He has over 23 years of teaching experience and 14 years of research experience. He has served at two different colleges in Tamil Nadu. He served as a Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute of Technology, Jigjiga University, Ethiopia, from November 2021 to November 2023. During his service, he has taken on several lead roles as Head of the Department, NBA Coordinator, Academic Cell Coordinator, Exam Cell Coordinator, Research Coordinator, and Chairman of the Department Advisory Committee. He has organized and conducted many workshops, seminars, webinars, faculty development programmes and conferences. He has delivered more guest lectures and acted as a resource person for the technical workshops and faculty development programmes.
He has published 43 research papers in International and National Journals and 42 International / National conferences. He has written the books Cryptography and Network Security, Satellite Communication, Opto Electronic Devices, and Communication Network Security, published by Sri Krishna Publications, Chennai. He registered two inventions for a Patent (IPR) and one invention was published in the Government Patent Journal in June 2021.He is one of the recognized research supervisors of the Centre for Research, Anna University, Chennai. He is a reviewer of the journal “Optica Applicata.” He has completed two funded projects sponsored by Jigjiga University, Ethiopia, during the years 2021–2023. He has received three awards, namely the NPTEL Discipline Star, the NPTEL Believer, and the NPTEL Enthusiast. He is a fellow member of IETE and a life member of ISTE. His current research interests include Signal and Image Processing, RF System Design, Computer Vision, Biometrics, and Very Large Scale Integration Architectures.
