Dr. P. Subramaniam, Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Shree Sathyam College of Engineering and Technology, Salem, is a highly accomplished academician with more than 30 years of rich experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. He has been serving the institution since June 2018 and has played a significant role in strengthening the department through academic excellence, research initiatives, and industry-oriented learning practices.

Dr. P. Subramaniam completed his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, and obtained his M.E. in Computer Aided Design from Government College of Engineering, Salem. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, with a research focus on “Soft Contact Analysis of a Fluid Filled Hyper Elastic Robotic Finger.”

With extensive teaching experience in reputed engineering institutions such as K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology, M.Kumarasamy College of Engineering, Karpagam College of Engineering, Sengunthar Engineering College, and James College of Engineering and Technology, he has developed strong expertise in mechanical engineering education and research.

Dr. P. Subramaniam has contributed significantly to research publications in reputed indexed journals. His recent publication on “Heat Transfer Characteristics and Flow Characteristics of Al2O3–CuO/Water Hybrid Nanofluids in a Hexagonal Serpentine Microchannel” reflects his active involvement in advanced research areas such as heat transfer, nanofluids, and thermal engineering.

Under his leadership, the Department of Mechanical Engineering focuses on academic excellence, practical learning, innovation, and research-oriented activities. He continuously motivates students and faculty members to participate in technical events, research projects, internships, and industry collaborations to enhance their professional competencies.

The department, under his guidance, is committed to producing competent mechanical engineers with strong technical knowledge, ethical values, leadership qualities, and problem-solving skills to meet the demands of modern industries and society.
