Functions of the Board of Studies (BoS)

(Statutory Body of Shree Sathyam College of Engineering and Technology)

The Board of Studies (BoS) is responsible for planning, reviewing, and improving the academic programmes of the department. Its major functions are:

  1. Frame and recommend academic regulations related to the department.
  2. Design and revise the programme structure, course structure, and credit distribution.
  3. Recommend the curriculum and syllabus for all programmes offered by the department.
  4. Frame Course Outcomes (COs), Programme Outcomes (POs), Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs), and Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs).
  5. Review laboratory courses and recommend modernization of laboratories.
  6. Approve the introduction of new courses, electives, and interdisciplinary courses.
  7. Review and update the curriculum to meet industry needs and emerging technologies.
  8. Recommend value-added courses, certificate courses, and skill development programmes.
  9. Recommend the list of textbooks, reference books, and learning resources.
  10. Recommend the scheme of examinations and assessment methods.
  11. Suggest innovative teaching, learning, and evaluation practices.
  12. Promote research, innovation, entrepreneurship, internships, and industry collaboration.
  13. Consider feedback from students, alumni, employers, faculty, and other stakeholders for curriculum improvement.
  14. Recommend measures for improving academic quality and student employability.
  15. Recommend new academic programmes, specializations, and honours/minor programmes, wherever applicable.
  16. Ensure compliance with the guidelines of AICTE, UGC, statutory bodies, and the Academic Council.
  17. Submit its recommendations to the Academic Council for approval and implementation.
